WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN A SOCIAL BALLROOM DANCE CLASS
On arrival at class are you greeted at the door and made feel welcome?
Do the 'regulars' make you feel part of the crowd?
Is the dance floor large enough to allow reasonably free movement when you are trying to learn the steps?
Is the dance area a proper wooden floor on wooden beams or is it a wooden floor fixed directly onto a concrete slab? Floors over concrete can make your leg muscles very sore.
Are the dances being taught demonstrated before you start walking through the steps?
Are you learning a variety of dances from all the styles?
Are you walked through the steps of the dances with a partner so that you both know where you should be in relation to each other when the music starts?
Does the studio run regular Medal or Proficiency classes?
Can you arrange for private lessons?
Does the studio run regular social dance nights or practice sessions to allow you to practise the dances you have learnt?
Is supper provided or do you have to buy it?
THE ANSWER TO ALL THESE QUESTIONS SHOULD BE:- YES
